The Project:
This particular property was experiencing numerous roof leaks. When our ACR Roofing estimator visited the site to inspect, it was clear the asbestos roofing was badly deteriorating, and was in need of a replacement. An asbestos roof cannot be repaired, therefore the only option is a full roof replacement. When we had planned for this Melbourne roof replacement to start was during Victoria’s 4th Lockdown. Luckily the building was unoccupied, so we didn’t have to delay. A plus side to Lockdown was that we could complete a number of commercial projects while our fellow Victorians were “enjoying” a couple of weeks at home.
The Process:
For Asbestos Roof Replacements, we follow a very strict process to ensure safety for everyone involved. Each day we remove an area of the asbestos roof. An independent hygienist then inspects and provides a Visual Asbestos Clearance Certificate. Once we receive the Clearance Certificate, our Melbourne roofers then commence the roof replacement, ensuring the building remains watertight at days end. The roof installation and materials on this site consisted of: new safety mesh; a 60mm roof insulation blanket; and BlueScope Plain Zincalume sheeting. After the installation of the entire roof, we installed the flashings, box gutters and downpipes, and some very snazzy Fascia gutters. In addition, we installed Ampelite Translucent Sheeting to 10% of the roofing, allowing some much needed natural light to enter the building below.
Completion:
The end result of this Asbestos Roofing Removal and Roof Replacement looks fantastic. The roof leaks are all gone, and the workspace is lighter and brighter. The contrast between the before and after photos really speaks for itself.
