November kicked off with this metal roof replacement in Geelong.
genU (originally named Karingal St Laurence) is an organisation who provide services, support and facilities for the elderly and disabled. They own and manage many facilities, predominantly in and around Geelong.
We received a phone from genU after being referred by a repeat client. Lara was the location of this large nursing home. With various wings this roof replacement consisted of several different roof areas, all covered with various penetrations. Skylights (only 25 of them) all of which we replaced, exhaust fans, ducts, stink pipes and antennas, nothing our team hasn’t seen before.
Being a nursing home and completing a roofing project in the heart of the pandemic saw our team and operations staff faced with a number of additional requirements just to complete the metal roof replacement. Again, nothing that our roofing contractors had not faced before. We knew who would thrive working at a nursing home so the A team was assigned to head down the Princes Fwy, Geelong-bound.
The original kliplock roof was causing major internal headaches for the staff and residents with a full roof replacement being their only alternative for a water tight dwelling. Loading the new roof sheets, we required the use of a little crane: the 250 tonne crane, the biggest in Associated Cranes fleet.
Each day a section of the residents was cordoned off and our roofers got to work on this roofing replacement using BlueScope Colorbond Surfmist Metlock 0.48 deck sheets. We find installing the heavier grade material for all clients allows other roofing contractors to wall unassisted on the roof and not dent of damage.
ACR Roofing organised and coordinated the disconnection and reconnection of the large solar panels that covered a large portion of the roof. JE Electrics.
On completion we also organised and coordinated the installation of all permanent safety equipment; roof anchors and a caged roof ladder, Safelock. We completed this large roof replacement over a fully occupied nursing home without any disruption or delay.
The genU team have been extremely satisfied with how effective our Melbourne roofers were, which has lead us onto repeat work for them. We are currently completing three more genU roof replacements in Geelong residential properties that house the disabled.
