One of, if not the most popular brands in Australia has placed itself in an iconic building located in the heart of Brighton.
Positioned on a busy corner on Nepean Hwy, Dan Murphy’s has been calling this beautiful building home for the past 20 yrs. The original building was built in the 1940s, with a warehouse added next door constructed in the 1970s.
This is where we come into play, being expert warehouse roofers in Melbourne.
Already over 50 yrs old, the corrosion was starting to wear thin and became a risk to the liquid gold stored below.
Contacted by the owner of the warehouse, an ACR Roofing estimator visited the site and inspected the roof. As you can see for yourself in the before photos, the original roof was in seriously bad condition! In some sections, the old metal roof had completely disappeared. There was no other option but to complete a full metal roof replacement.
As you can imagine, being an operational storage facility for Dan’s, and being one of their busiest stores in Melbourne, we were faced with some difficulties – though none that we have never seen before and know how to handle.
Communication is the key to any roof replacement and it is paramount when completing the works over premises that remain operational.
Before we commenced this metal roof replacement, we provided their management with a detail works schedule and cordoned off sections below each day.
Our Melbourne roofers were required to load all materials onto the roof with the assistant of a mobile crane. Once the perimeter safety rail was installed, we commenced the metal roof replacement.
Each day onsite, our team removed an area of the old roof sheets and installed new safety mesh. We then installed ‘BlueScope Plain Zincalume Speed Deck Ultra’ roof sheeting, in a heavier grade material. We completed the roof replacement process to an individual area of the roof each day. Consequently, the roof remains watertight at the end of each day. In addition, Dan’s was able to continue operating as usual, whilst keeping their clients satisfied and full of booze.
This Melbourne roof replacement was a massive success. All thanks to the ACR Roofing contractors, the roof looks brilliant – and not only does it look great, but Dan Murphy’s also appreciate that we have stopped their water features once and for all.
